July 2009 was the focus month for a NSW CERAMICS FESTIVAL in regional NSW and Sydney. The Australian Ceramics Triennale organising committee invited art galleries and institutions to participate in this event by presenting exhibitions and collections during the month of July 2009.

A four day conference, operating under the umbrella of AUSTRALIAN CERAMICS TRIENNALE 09, represented academic and social aspects of the festival with keynote addresses, panel discussions, trade fair and exhibition opportunities. Workshops and demonstrations to explore the ceramic medium were held during the event.

This documentary were the hi-lite exhibitions/workshops of the month. This is an excerpt.

Biography

Having graduated from the Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS) in 2010, Me-Lee Hay is an Australian composer with a special interest in composing for music in film and dance. With a training in classical piano and theory combined with dark electronica/pop explorations in the touring live music scene, Me-Lee is attracted to sounds of classical textures merging seamlessly with sounds and ambience of the modern world to facilitate a story and mood.

Me-Lee was additional composer to Penelope , a foreign feature film (Australian and Croatian produced) , re-working and adding to the original score by Max Richter (Shutter Island). Penelope was premiered at the international One Take Film Festival in Croatia 2009 and won the Best Fantasy Film at Amsterdams Van Gogh Film festival (2010)

Winner of the Best Composer Award twice in a row at Sydney Film Schools short film festival, Me-Lee Hay continues to write for film, documentaries and animations.

Having studied contemporary dance and ballet, Me-Lee has a unique ability to appreciate the sensibilities of the requirements of dance and human movement and how this translates onto the stage. She has been commissioned to write music for dance performances at Short Sweet Dance Festivals 2009 and 2010, which were performed at Seymour Centre and NIDA respectively and is currently working with phD researcher Helene Markstein at WAAPA on a dance based production.

January 2012: Me-Lee is composing music for the dance-choreographic research project by Helene Markstein of WAAPA, Edith Cowan University of WA. In February, Me-Lee will be participating in the workshops in Perth and performing as a cellist with dancers and choreographers.

December 2011: Me-Lee works in collaboration with electronic artist G.L. Seiler (aka Comatone) on a tropfest film submission - Firestation, director Freshteh Piltan from Sweden

November 2011: Liminal and Reflection gets screened at Sandfly Film Festival in Jervis Bay this month

September 2011: Me-Lee returns home after 2 months in USA doing work experience in LA. Hi lites were exposure and spending time in the studios of Aussie expat film composer Brian Cachia (Gabriel) and LA A-list composer Tyler Bates (Conan the Barbarian, 300, Suckerpunch) and a tour of Hans Zimmers (Pirates of the Carribean) studio

June 2011: Me-Lee successfully gets accepted for the generous Artstart grant (Aust Council Arts) to facilitate a career in Film composing

May 2011: Human Touch is selected for Dungog Film Festival. Australia's biggest film festival that screens all Australian films and supported by the likes of director Jane Campion and Margeret Pomeranz (The Movie Show)

Mar 2011: TV Commericial for WOW Film Festival will be aired on Aurora TV this month.

Feb 2011 The first installment of Helene Markstein's phD study on dance and movement creation, WAAPA was completed this month. The dancer was the most beautiful and elegant Emma Sandall from Ludwig Dance Companywho's work in the past has included roles in The Royal Ballet, West Aust Ballet and the Scottish Ballet.

Dec 2010 Penelope wins Best Fantasy Film at Amsterdams Van Gogh Film festival !!!

Nov 2010 Me-Lee is composing for a project funded by Sydney University. It is a health promotion video aimed to educate the Anindilyakwa people (of NT) about the harms of binge drinking. Groote Eylandt Health Clinics, Anindilyakwa Land Council, and The Perfect Worldare also partners

Oct 2010 Me-Lee's contemporary pop act "Mozaika" joins USA record lable Ingot Rock. The self title album is planned for re-release internationally through them in Feb 2011

May 2010 Liminal get screened at the international ReelDance Festival for Dance on Screen (Carriageworks, Sydney) as part of the Out of the Hat Sessions
